World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaimán Saldívar, traveled to Zapopan, Jalisco and reiterated his full support for this municipality excelling in sports and particularly in boxing.
At a press conference on Friday, December 6, Mauricio Sulaiman, accompanied by former world champions and municipal officials, announced the creation of a Boxing Museum. And the incorporation of boxing infrastructure in the sports complex of the Tabachines Sports Unit, where a gym and museum will take place.
During a tour of the facilities of this sports excellent unit, it was mentioned that this project has the avowed purpose of supporting local children and youth to enjoy and excel in this sport.
In addition, the government of Zapopan offered a recognition to Don José Sulaimán, for devoting his life to boxing.
The event was attended by Mexican boxing legends: Pipino Cuevas, Guadalupe Pintor, Carlos Zarate, Daniel Zaragoza, Alfonso Zamora and Humberto “Chiquita” Gonzalez.
Also present were Zapopan officials including Juan José Frangie, Chief of Staff; Mónica Magaña, governor of the Youth and Sports Commission; and Gustavo Santoscoy, director of Comude.
The museum and gymnasium will be named after Don José Sulaimán, honoring his memories. Facilities that will serve to help local talent on to the path of glory.
