VLADIMIR KLITSCHKO and his family had to be rescued by the Majorca coastguard service, after his chartered yacht caught fire.
Nine people had to be rescued after the yacht, making its way from Ibiza, caught fire – with the Ukrainian sharing a video of the drama.
The crew of the 90ft Sunseeker Predator 92 – called UM7 – made an emergency call at 1.30am Monday morning after what turned out to be a fire in the engine room nine miles of the Majorcan shore-line.
Taking to Twitter, Klitschko, 43, made light of the situation, saying: “Be careful what you wish for: fate took my wish for ‘some #adrenalin’ a bit too literally.
“Our boat-trip Sunday night ended up in our boat #igniting and family & friends being evacuated by coast guard and fire rescue-team.
“No worries: we are all fine! #theroofisonfire #song”.
In the accompanying video, floods of fire extinguisher foam can be seen seeping down the steps of the £7,000-a-day yacht after it was towed ashore.
NO INJURIES
According to Klitschko, the fire was quickly put out and everybody escaped unhurt.
The former boxer later flew out of Majorca to Germany to attend the “A Heart for Children” festival
Klitschko later told local media: “Thanks to the Majorcan fire department and also to our crew on board.
“Everyone did their best to bring the situation under control and get us ashore as quickly as possible.”
The Ukrainian hasn’t fought in the ring since his incredible bout with British star Anthony Joshua in April 2017.
With 90,000 fans watching on at Wembley – a post-war record – AJ won by an 11th round TKO.
Klitschko announced his retirement shortly after the loss with a career record of 64-5, including 53 KOs.
But now he is in talks over a shock return to the ring after DAZN offered him a bumper £76million deal.
