World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder will defend his crown against American Dominic Breazeale on May 18 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Wilder will be aiming to get his 40th KO against Breazeale, who is motivated by the opportunity to contest for the world championship.
Wilder comments that in the future the expected battle against Anthony Joshua may take place, but first he must defeat Breazeale, who will not be an easy opponent.
“Everyone wants to see the fight with Joshua, but first I have to take care of Breazeale. I’m excited to get back into the ring. I am the man to beat in the heavyweight division. There is no other fighter doing what I`m doing,” declared the Champion.
For his part, Breazeale commented: “This is my second attempt for a world title. The first one I lost against Anthony Joshua, but this second attempt will be totally different. It`s my golden ticket to get a rematch with Joshua and avenge that defeat, defeating Wilder, so I’m definitely motivated to give the best fight of my life. At the same time, I will get gratification for being able to enter the ring and punish Wilder, with whom I have had constant problems.”
