Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez could have been the best at Jr. Welterweight but they quickly bypassed the division for the big money fights (and pride to prove they are the best ever period!) at Welterweight. They both cemented there place in boxing history as two of the best ever to step into the ring. It is remarkable to think of what they did in the welterweight division as they were truely Jr. Welters fighting up.
Some of the rankings unfortunately are not meant to make certain fans happy as it might be their favorite fighter and they see that they are ranked lower than they thought they would be. Keep in mind how rich the history of boxing is and how many great warriors came along and it’s very important to rank the fighters the proper way not by your favorite fighter. For example Alexis Arguello is one of the greatest fighters of all time and one of the top pound for pound fighter’s of all time yet he wasn’t really a junior welterweight even though he took Fryor to the limit when he moved up in the fight of the decade. Also Wilfred Benitez was an exceptionally rare boxer, but when he beat the great Antonio Cervantes, there was a 13 year age cap and Cervantes was at the tale end of a historic career. Also Benitez lost seven times to great fighters while in the prime of his career, therefore it is very difficult to put Benítez as great as he was in the top 10 of all time in the Jr. welterweight division.
