Vasyl Lomachenko vs Luke Campbell is now a done deal to take place at the end of August, according to the Ukrainian’s promoter Bob Arum.
The unified lightweight title bout, which was surprisingly ordered by the WBC earlier this month, will see Loma put his WBA and WBO belts at stake while also trying to pick up the vacant WBC strap.
As the WBC mandatory challenger, Britain’s Campbell was first in line for the shot, which will seemingly happen on his home turf.
During a debate about making fights with other promoters, Arum was challenged about his willingness to match his boxers against those Eddie Hearn represents.
In response, he let slip to J Calderon Boxing Talk: “Lomachenko is gonna fight Campbell at the end of August.
“And we were able to make that deal with Eddie Hearn who books fights for DAZN.”
While Arum did not confirm a location for the clash, it was previously mentioned by both parties that they were planning it for a UK destination.
London’s O2 Arena was seemingly the frontrunner for a potential August 31 date, with Hull’s KCOM Stadium also in the running. None of this is known for certain as yet.
In his last bout, Lomachenko knocked out another Brit – Anthony Crolla – within four rounds.
