This week the WBC interim super bantamweight champion Tomoki Kameda (36-2, 20 KOs), stated he will face the WBC super bantamweight champion, Rey Vargas (33-0, 22 KOs) in a unification bout in July in Los Angeles.
The fight could be held on July 13 and will take place in Carson California, 35 minutes from downtown Los Angeles, Eric Gomez of Golden Boy Promotions confirmed to Dan Rafael of ESPN.
He also stated that it would be broadcast on DAZN, in the US, as part of Golden Boy’s relation with this platform.
The undefeated Mexican champion will make his fifth belt defense aiming to repeat his amateur victory over Kameda.
Tomoki, meanwhile, will seek to become the WBC’s absolute champion and take revenge for his defeat as amateurs.
