When Tyson Fury came back to boxing to start his second career, Eddie Hearn insisted he wouldn’t be the A-Side against Joshua making it very easy for Wilder & Fury to agree on a match because they split the money 50/50.
Then when the first Wilder / Fury fight was announced back in 2018, Hearn said it was a marketing ploy and Fury shouldn’t be taken seriously, because he wasn’t ready for a high level fighter and needed more tune-up fights.
Then when he realize the fight would happen, he said that Tyson Fury winning that fight would simply be boring and fans would be turned off.
This past week, Hearn said he would like to see Fury win because a unification fight with Joshua would be more likely with Fury, but also insisted in the same interview that he sees Wilder winning the fight.
Maybe all accounts are wrong, because he did fight Wilder in 2018, and by the public’s demand for a second fight, it sure wasn’t boring.
Finally, Fury’s team just mentioned that they want 70% to fight Joshua. Maybe making a fight with Wilder would have been easier.
Is Fury looking to give the Matchroom tandem of Hearn & Joshua a taste of their own medicine?
