The final fight of Canelo versus Gennady Golovkin, most likely did not go as the fans thought. Though Canelo did win the majority of the rounds, The toe to toe action we all came to expect from these two warriors only showed towards the end of the fight. With that said, Canelo and GGG seems to have met before the fight and let bygones be bygones.
I don’t believe it takes a rocket ship scientist to know that these guys agree to fight an exhibition only so they don’t get injured and both continue with their bright futures and collect a nice payday from DAZN. But that’s ok- because that’s boxing- they gave us two good fights and now they deserve their exhibition. This is not the first time it has happened and this will not be the last time Boxing will have an exhibition on its biggest stage. That’s a part of the sport we love.
After the fight in the post game interview, Triple G said that it was a tactical chess match. Question is when was the last time if ever Canelo Álvarez or Gennady Golovkin fought a chess match??? – we all knew something was up in the air after the feel out round continued for basically the majority of the evening.
This classic rivalry ends with Canelo getting the last word over the 40 year old and with class and respect from both parties- you got to love Boxing.
