On July 4, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of Dempsey conquering the world heavyweight championship, defeating the then champion, Jess Willard- a giant over two meters tall.
The World Boxing Council decided to honor Dempsey and his hometown in this centennial celebration with a special belt that commemorates one of boxing’s most important achievements in history.
At the Jack Demspey Museum in Manassa, Colorado, WBC Vice President Rex Walker and Secretary of Youth WBC, Misty Moravec, representing the President Mauricio Sulaiman Saldivar, by presented a unique belt to the museum, in front of a large number of fans and proud local residents.
