The World Boxing Association (WBA) Classifications Committee announced its rankings for July, which includes the 15 best boxers in the 17 weight divisions. Only these boxers have the possibility of aspiring to a world title fight within their respective divisions.
The “Boxer of the Month” distinction was awarded to Manny Pacquiao, who overcame US-based Keith “One Time” Thurman at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas via split decision.
Pacquiao, an eight-time world champion of forty years of age, won the fight based on experience, power shots, agility, and skills that showed that the Filipino still has snap to follow up with big blows.
With his big victory, the senator and boxer became the absolute king of the 147 pound crown of the World Boxing Association (WBA), adding one more achievement to his already illustrious career. Congratulations to the Filipino icon and boxing legend.
The honorable mention for boxer of the month is Ryota Murata. Murata regained the World Boxing Association (WBA) World Middleweight Championship after a stunning second round technical knockout of Champion Rob Brant. The victory avenged his defeat at the hands of Brant, who beat him via unanimous decision last year in Las Vegas. Congratulations to Murata on a stunning victory.
