Manny Pacquiao will fight Keith Thurman for the WBA welterweight title on July 20, it was officially announced on Saturday night.
While a venue for the bout is yet to be confirmed, it’s widely reported that the contest will take place in Las Vegas, USA – either at the MGM Grand or T-Mobile Arena.
Pacquiao, 40, was most recently seen comprehensively outboxing Adrien Broner on January 19.
One week later, 30-year-old Thurman returned from a two-year lay-off to beat Josesito Lopez.
On July 20, the pair will meet to solidify the WBA welterweight title as Thurman is currently the ‘super’ champion, while Pacquiaoholds the lesser ‘regular’ belt.
The fight will be broadcast on FOX pay-per-view in America, though it’s yet to be confirmed what platform is going to air it in the UK.
Earlier in the night, Caleb Plant will defend his IBF super-middleweight belt against Mike Lee – a contest also announced on Saturday.
