Shields/Hammer- The Great Unknown
Fight Prediction at the Bottom
It’s fight week and started Wednesday Boxing Action Magazine will be covering wall to wall – everything Shields vs Hammer. If these ladies sneeze we will know the number of times.
Rather then go thought all the accolades. awards and titles these two undefeated champions have or run there mile long impressive records and career, let this be an appetizer article for what is to come this week as at all emulates Saturday night in the biggest woman’s boxing match in history.
The most interesting thing is quite honestly this is the first major boxing match in which nobody really knows what’s going to happen and how the fight will play out. I certainly don’t but I am going to give it my best opinion.
First for all, we know Christina Hammer may simply dominate Shields or Clarissa Shields May dominate Hammer from the get-go.
Realistically, I can see two scenarios:
-
If there’s going to be a knockout/stoppage which I don’t think there will; it will be Christina Hammer stopping Clarissa Shields in a built-up of punches – similar to Buster Douglas knocking Mike Tyson out.
-
This fight will go the distance and end up in a draw which 50% will believe is fair and the other half will think Hammer got robbed because she won 6-7 rounds.
Clarissa Shields KEY to victory is going to have to be head movement. If she can avoid much of Hammer’s shots, she can get the UD Win.
At the end of the day, if it’s a great fight -everybody will be a winner.
Two minutes rounds are good for Woman’s Boxing, but an event like this; I think should be 12 rounds, not the standard 10 for women’s boxing.
Woman’s boxing is still light years away from where it should be, but Shields/Hammer is a good step towards spotlighting the great sport.
