Latest Boxing News:
Jorge Linares:
After putting up a great fight and being stopped by Vasiliy Lomachenko 4 months ago, Linares returns to light welterweight and beats Abner Cotto in 3 rounds. Unfortunately, Linares biggest issues may not be a boxer in the ring, it might be all the scar tissue around his eyes, I don’t know how well his face will hold up in a great fight against another top champion, I highly recommend he also takes sometime to rest and heal his body as he is calling out some really big names including Mikey Garcia.
Fury vs. Wilder
This dream matchup is starting to really look serious as they have agreed to fight on December 1st of this year in Los Angeles. I look forward to this match up- big time as you have Wilder’s power coming off a very impressive Win against Luis “King King” Ortiz against Tyson Fury. Ever since Fury came up the ranks he was very hard to take seriously, even though he was big he just had the most odd looking body and the biggest mouth. (many of us thinking he was really heading nowhere). He kept winning fights and he finally got his big break to fight Wladimir Klitschko, The Champion who cleared out the entire heavyweight division over the last 10 years, too many’s surprise, he not only beat Dr. Steelhammer, but he gave him a boxing lesson. So now when we hear the name Tyson Fury, yes we take it serious.
Canelo & GGG
While many feel Triple G Won and landed the better shots, we can’t deny that it was a great fight. With both their contracts with HBO up, they will probably soon sign with other networks, DAZN app or Showtime or ESPN. Whatever direction these two warriors go in, prepared to pay through the nose to watch them fight, either through monthly fees or big ticket PPV.
HBO:
Once the leader in boxing entertainment, HBO announced this week that they are bowing out of the boxing scene by years end. HBO did say that they might from time to time promote big boxing events but as far as monthly shows, there Done. Thank you HBO for carrying the sport for 45 years!!!
Amir Khan:
Khan’s next fight looking more like next year now, WHO CARES. Any top fighter would easily KO him.
Anthony Joshua:
AJ TKO’d Alexander Povetkin in 7 rounds,
He’s been stepping up and fighting very good competition, A big thumbs up for AJ, but just remember if you fight Wilder or Fury, you’re going to have to pay them.
Mayweather / Pacquiao:
These two boxing legends recently met in Japan and discussed a possible second fight, Rumor has it, it may be this December.
Victor Ortiz:
Not that I was too excited, after being charged with rape his fight with John Molina Jr. is off and some news outlets are saying it’s back on, Ortiz hasn’t shown that heart of a Lion in a long time, The days of being a main attraction is gone, I do not believe he is even a TV boxer anymore, sure he has the name but every other fight he decides to fight, he quits and just like this fight we don’t even know if he’ll show up, how can you sell tickets and rely on someone you can’t trust, there’s too many young, hungry boxer’s out there that we should be promoting and showing to the world instead of guys that are in it to try to make one last dollar- someway -somehow.
