In a lively, lengthy and extraordinary training session, World Boxing Council welterweight champion Shawn “Showtime” Porter and former super middleweight champion David “Red Flag” Benavidez climbed up into the ring and reached out , with 10 rounds of sparkling sparring, at the Combination Boxing Academy in Los Angeles.
Porter and Benavidez judged the distances and angles rather well during their little and large sparring session. They`ll share the card on September 28 in an event presented by PBC at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Porter (30-2-1, 17 Ko’s) will face IBF champion Errol Spence Jr. (25-0, 21 KOs), in a highly anticipated unification fight at 147 pounds. This will be Porter’s second defense. He won the vacant title against Danny Garcia, and retained it in a close fight over Cuban Yordenis Ugas in the first quarter of this year.
For his part, the undefeated Benavidez (21-0, 18 Ko´s), will challenge WBC super middleweight champion, Anthony “The Dog” Dirrell (33-1-1, 24 Ko’s).
