On this day in history, Mayweather defeats Maidana by majority decision

On this day in history,WBC welterweight champion, Floyd Mayweather (46-0, 26 KOs) had to dig deep to win a twelve round majority decision over Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs) in the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Maidana came out very aggressive in round one and unleashed a barrage of punches at Mayweather from all angles and had some success. Mayweather did more in round two, but took some hard body shots. In the middle of the ring, Floyd was in total command.
When Maidana was able to force Floyd to the ropes he had success, especially to the body. Maidana was warned for pushing by Referee Tony Weeks in round three. Mayweather was cut over the right eye in round four by an unintentional headbutt. Maidana just relentless in his unconventional attacks in round five.
Mayweather was able to keep some distance in in round six and dominated. Maidana seemed to be slowing down in the seventh. Maidana did well in round eight, punishing Mayweather on the ropes. Mayweather changed his tactics in round nine and outboxed Maidana in the middle of the ring.
Round ten was close, Floyd might have edged it in the late seconds. Another close round in the event, Mayweather again may have stole it with late punches. Floyd’s movement gave Maidana problems in the twelfth. The bout ended with both working hard on the ropes.
Scores were 114-114, 117-111, 116-112.
