On this day in history, Chavez suffers first defeat in 91 fights
January 29, 1994
Julio Cesar Chavez was floored for the first time in his career as his 90-fight unbeaten run was ended by Frankie Randall.
Chavez, a three-weight WBC champion, was sent to the canvas in the 11th and docked two points for low blows in a split decision which cost him his super lightweight crown.
The Mexican legend won a rematch four months later and settled their trilogy on points in 2004.
Julio Cesar Chavez is considered among the best fighters in all boxing history.
