16. Roman Gonzalez
17. Eleider Alvarez
18. Isaac Dogboe
19. Anthony Joshua
20. Shawn Porter
Honorable Mentions: Danny Garcia, Keith Thurman, Guillermo Rigondeaux, Daniel Jacobs and Donnie Nietes.
1 & 2. Spence & Crawford:
Everyone wants them to fight each other, they will have to fight Top competition to maintain there top positions.
3. Naoya Inoue:
Inoue is currently #3 on the P4P list and might move to #1 if he dominates Emmanuel Rodríguez Vázquez in his next fight. This is what makes The Sweet Science different than any other boxing publication people read and why we are averaging over 480,000 views a month. We are innovators and forward thinkers, and we say what needs to be said in the world of boxing, we are not reactors that play Monday morning quarterback. Inoue is similar to Tom Brady in many ways, Tom Brady proved he was great in the first few years he played, but he’s never got the credit he deserved until he won his third Super Bowl, and then everyone sang his toon, it was also clear he was clutch and this generations version of Joe Montana. No disrespect to Dan Marino and Peyton Manning who put up the big numbers, but they aren’t clutch like Montana and Brady. So we had Inoue in our top 10 list from the beginning, wait and see how long it will take the sheep to follow.
4. Vasyl Lomachenko
Excellent footwork and does things we haven’t seen before, but he has to earn his position just like everybody else, fight the best or drop down.
5. Manny Pacquiao
Pacquiao is still very active and has earned the right to say here till someone clearly beats him.
6. Gennady Golovkin
Considered by many to still be undefeated, at age 36 GGG is starting to slow down a bit, but his training and focus are second to none.
7. Mickey Garcia
Mikey Garcia is an old school boxer, he wants to fight the best, he wants Lomachenko, Pacquiao and Spence. A win over Spence will catapult him to the number one spot.
8. Srisaket Sor Rungvisai
This Super Flyweight is maintaining his position as he keeps winning
9. Deontay Wilder
Wilder is taking on Tyson Fury in December, can he do what Vladimir Klitschko couldn’t do and stay in the top 10?
10. Leo Santa Cruz
This all out puncher Avenged the one loss he had in dominate fashion. The adjustments he made against Carl Frampton was terrific.
12. Oleksandr Usyk
Oleksandr Usyk is a fight (Tony Bellew) from breaking the door into the top 10.
14. Canelo Álvarez
Canelo Alvarez has proved to be great and a Mexican Warrior, but we are talking P4P, I think some boxing experts are starting to not understand what that really means. Canelo Alvarez has come a long way since he lost to Mayweather, he has a few fights to go before he can legitimately and honestly be in the top 10.
16. Roman Gonzalez
Chocolatito might end up fighting in December in a last minute HBO broadcast.
17. Eleider Alvarez is a (bigger/ less experienced) version of Canelo Alvarez with his rugged chin and big punching power.
19. Anthony Joshua
Joshua is looking to fight the best, he is on a very good road.
20. Shawn Porter
Porter proved many wrong ( including me) by showing he is not a one trick pony (come forward Mike Tyson). Can he keep surprising us and moving up the list?
Danny Garcia:
Garcia can compete with anyone, watching him fight is fun.
Keith Thurman:
Needs to get in the ring, seems to have all the skill and talent. Looks like he will face Porter in the first part of 2019.
Daniel Jacobs:
The Miracle Man will hopefully keep fighting the top talent in the Middleweight Division. His speed and punching power are superb, I didn’t think he was busy enough in his fight against Sergiy Derevyanchenko.
