It is particularly interesting to talk about this combination, this type of women that are able to transform into a fierce beast against their rivals in the ring but who are really delicate and sweet.
Women that day by day open their path inside the boxing world with great will, dedication, discipline and passion mixed with maternity.
There are several example of these women like Laila Alí, Laura Serrano, Mariana Juárez, Esmeralda Moreno, Zulina Muñoz, Ana María Torres, Guadalupe Martínez, Alejandra Jiménez, Jackie Nava, Heather Hardy, Jessica Chávez, Mia Rosales St. John, Yesica Bopp, among others.
A boxer mom is a combination that seems to be simple, but that in reality is not. Adjust the demands from profesional boxing with maternity and it becomes longer than a 10 rounds bout. Just imagine, on one side of the coin we got the woman that attends to the gym with great discipline willing to give her best in the ring, but at the other side of the coin we got a lovely mother, who changes the boxing gloves for making breakfast, for preparing school´s uniforms and who combs the hair of her children before school.
Being a mom means to be a friend and a confident, it means to learn to listen, it means to think in plural, it´s being light and strong in darkness, it is calm, affection, guide and support.
Being a mom means learning nursery, becoming a chef, a dressmaker and a fashion designer; being a nanny, a teacher and a driver. It is to feel proud when you notice your son or daughter is happy, it is grinding your teeth and have to be strong when you know they are suffering. It is practicing a vocation without resting.
Today we would like to celebrate and to honor all those warriors who carry, with love and passion, their championships not in their hips but in their hearts.
Happy mother´s day to all of our dear warriors!!
