Looks like another mismatch for Mikey Garcia as he prepares to fight true welterweight Danny Garcia.
The García’s will be another terrific rivalry between Mexico’s Mikey and Puerto Rico’s Danny. It seems that there is not much money to be made in the lightweight division where Mikey Garcia should be fighting. The max fighting weight for Mikey should be 140 pounds.
Whenever you see Mikey standing next to True welterweights, you just see the size and reach difference and realize that he doesn’t belong with those men. I’m sure Mikey will make a good fight out of it, as he has a very tough and rugged chin. Mikey also has enough power to keep any boxer honest.
It’s really a shame how Mikey Garcia is practically ruining his boxing career. Instead of remaining undefeated and fighting the top guys at 135 and 140 pounds he is just setting himself up for failure fighting the top guys at 147 pounds.
When Mikey took on Errol Spence we all gave him the benefit of a doubt that he wanted to take a challenge, be a warrior and try to do something very rare and special. But after the one sided beating he took from Spence, he should attempt to trim down and fight at his real body weight.
Danny Garcia is coming of a Top P4P performance against Adrian Granados. Danny stopped Granados in the seven round on April 20, in Carson, California. Danny looked very impressive and in his prime ready to make a big welterweight division run.
Danny Garcia’s only two losses came by decision and they were both very close. Keith Thurman beat Danny Garcia by being very aggressive in the first half of the fight and building up points. Shawn Porter surprised all the boxing analysts by boxing and moving and was able to out point and out hustle Garcia in September 2018 in Brooklyn.
Get your popcorn ready as Danny Garcia and Mikey Garcia will be another blockbuster fight in 2019 (PPV of course).
There are a few other opponents I would have loved to see each of them face this fall instead of each other, but this is the world of boxing.
