Keeping track: Berchelt vs. Vargas II
WBC super featherweight champion Miguel “Alacrán” Berchelt and challenger Francisco “Bandido” Vargas will clash for second time on May 11 at the Tucson Arena, at the Tucson Convention Center, Arizona.
Berchelt and Vargas already fought each other in a no quarter asked or given full blooded and also bloody ring war. Two years on, the Mexican warriors are ready to do it all over again!
The WBC recognizes the professionalism of both fighters and their respective teams, as they have complied with all the medical requirements, examinations and safety protocols that the body requires. One of the main priorities of the World Boxing Council is the total implementation of the new Weight Management Program, which aims to protect the health of boxers.
At 30 days, the boxers must not weigh more than 10% of the limit of their division. At the 14 days mark, they must not exceed more than 5% and for the 7 days pre weigh in days no more than 3%.
* The fighters must be weighed in the dressing room of the arena where the fight will take place. Although it is an unofficial weighing, it must be done to monitor that the established percentage is not exceeded, with the intention of maintaining of the integrity of the boxers.
We greatly appreciate the dedicated work of William Boodhoo, who is responsible for promptly following all of these requirements.
