Completely focused on his goal of becoming Absolute super bantamweight Champion of the World Boxing Council, Japanese Tomoki “Mexicanito” Kameda vows he has what it takes to defeat Mexican Rey Vargas this July 13 in California.
“Since I was a child I always dreamed of being a WBC champion. All my brothers and me thank God, were fortunate to be world champions, but I want to give my Dad one more gift, which is another world championship,” he pledges.
Kameda (36-2 and 20 KO’s), who is Interim champion, will seek to take advantage of the extensive knowledge he has of Japanese boxing, which was taught by his Father and the Mexican style that Ruben Lira taught him.
“I have won six important titles including the Silver, the NABF, Youth Championship, FECARBOX, I already have the Interim. So now…I want the biggest and the most beautiful – I want to be absolute champion of the division.
“To achieve so many things in my career I had to make so many sacrifices like leaving my country and my family, since I was young. My Father said that I should go to Mexico. Back then, I did not know anything about Mexico, I did not speak any spanish, I did not understand anything. Many times I was sad to be away from home, but today I feel very Mexican!”
Tomoki who belongs to a family of world champions along with his brothers Daiki and Koki, seeks the zenith.
