MANILA, Philippines — With an intense love for his Motherland and a desire to serve his country, the Republic of the Philippines, the reigning Filipino IBF Super Flyweight World Champion Jerwin “Pretty Boy” Ancajashas successfully received a rank promotion in the Philippines Navy.
A reigning world champion in boxing, Ancajas (31-1-2, 21 KO’s) is also an active officer in the Philippines Navy, assigned by the Philippine Naval Reserve Command.
Jerwin received his rank promotion in a solemn, inspiring military ceremony Monday, August 19, at Philippines Naval Base.
The Philippine Navy is the naval warfare service branch of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
It has an estimated strength of 24,000 active service personnel, including the 7,500-strong Philippine Marine Corps. The Philippine Navy shares the responsibility of patrolling and protecting the maritime borders of the Philippines, together with the Philippine Coast Guard.
In attendance during the ceremony was Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosawho congratulated the “Pretty Boy.”
Also present at the event was American Sean Gibbons, president of Manny Pacquiao’s MP Promotions, the boxing outfit that handles Ancajas’ boxing career.
