If you have ever been lucky enough to have a brother or a friend or cousin that you considered a brother you know unconditional love.
Recently, A relative I considered a brother my entire life taught me a big lesson. Just because you love someone doesn’t mean it’s coming back at you. Even if you do your best and give everything you can, it might never be enough. So when you realize this, it’s disappointing but I realized two things.
First, I’m glad I found out that the feeling isn’t mutual so I am able to make adjustments in the future and make sure I am comfortable with the relationship.
Second, no matter the reaction from your brother you will always continue to love him, it’s unconditional love.
Boxing is similar to my recent interaction with my, “brother”. It has surprised me, shocked me and disappointed me. Unlike a tennis tournament we’re all the best are involved, boxing in many ways is a huge disappointment. Loving the sport and tuning in every week and it seems that it’s all about the money for the decision makers, the guys running the show. Making money is the priority over consistently putting on the best most exciting matchup’s.
GGG is right there waiting for Canelo in September and DAZN is begging for trilogy. Why is this so hard when Oscar himself is always saying he wants the best to fight the best. Katie Taylor got school by a Persoon and instead of an out cry for an immediate rematch, the Press simply gives Taylor glory.
So, do we give up on the Sweet Science? Do we dump our love and passion? No, we love boxing unconditionally, no matter the product, the washed down cards that often disappoint, we stick with the sport. That’s unconditional, that’s who we are.
