Gennady Golovkin watched the Canelo Alvarez versus Daniel Jacobs fight live and in person last night in Las Vegas.
GGG wasn’t impressive by the way either fighter performed and called the entire fight an overhyped sparring session.
Canelo and Jacobs came into the fight in Elite shape but didn’t provide the fireworks action fight fans in attendance were looking for. The DAZN broadcasters ended up selling the fight as a chess match.
Jacobs had his moments in the fight and landed the bigger punches. Surprisingly Canelo walked thru Jacobs biggest shots and didn’t blink an eye.
It could have been that Jacobs can no longer make 160 pounds and carry his power anymore. This may have been the last time we see Jacobs at 160 pounds.
Alvarez was the aggressor in the fight and seems to gas out a bit in the second half of the fight. Alvarez landed a few good body shots throughout the fight, but considering that he is in his prime, Canelo’s speed and boxing ability wasn’t able to do much against the movement of Jacobs.
Canelo won most of the rounds on the judges score cards partly because Jacobs didn’t give the judges a reason to win the rounds himself.
