World Boxing Council super flyweight champion Juan Francisco “Gallo” Estrada, successfully defended his crown with a pulverizing TKO of brave American challenger Dewayne “Mister Stop Running” Beamon in nine rounds, at the Multiple Use Center of Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.
Beamon came out aggressively and paid the price when Estrada sent him to the canvas twice in the second round, but he managed to recover well to make it competitive.
Beamon gave Estrada some uncomfortable moments in the middle rounds, opening up with a high punch output, particularly short angled rights. But more accurate, more experienced, patient and more accomplished Estrada who kept his cool, wobbled and hurt Beamon again in the seventh round. Dewayne was running out of gas.
Estrada systematically punished tiring Beamon in the eighth round and the fight culminated at 51 seconds of the ninth round, with the American being backed against the ropes, and relentlessly punished, firstly with a hard left to the ribs and then a cluster of unanswered left right combinations to the head.
With this result, Estrada improved his record to 39-3, with 26 knockouts, while plucky Beamon departed with his record at 16-2-1, including 11 knockouts.
In another fight, the Croatian Filip Hrgovic showed his power by knocking out the brave and charismatic Mexican fighter Mario “Chabelo” Heredia at 33 seconds of the third round, retaining his WBC heavyweight International Championship.
Also, the former world champion, Scouser Liam “Beefy” Smith, showed his quality by defeating the brave Mexican Mario Alberto “Águila¨ Lozano, by knocking him out in the seventh round.
