American Dewayne Beaumon, who has a record of 16-1-1 and 11 knockouts, leads the list of possible rivals of the Mexican World Boxing Council super flyweight champion, Juan Francisco ‘Gallo’ Estrada, for next August 24 in the Multiple Use Center of Hermosillo, Sonora, according to sources close to the negotiations.
Juan Francisco, who makes the frist defense of his WBC title, will try to create a new attendance record at the CUM of Hermosillo, surpassing ten thousand attendees on March 8, 1991, when the popular Jorge ‘Maromero’ Páez clashed with ‘Cocas’ Ramírez.
It was planned that Francisco may fight in Mexico City, but in the end it was decided to have ‘Gallo’ box in his native Sonora, something that has not happened since 2016, when he defeated Raymond Tabugon in Puerto Peñasco.
Estrada comes from defeating Thai Srisaket Sor Rungvisai with a great and memorable performance in order to conquer the WBC crown.
For Beaumon, whose most recent triumph was in October of last year over Mexican Martin Tecuapetla, he has been waiting a long time for a title chance and it seems that he will finally have it against Estrada.
