WBC World Super-Flyweight title clash
Srisaket Sor Rungvisai vs Juan Francisco Estrada:
Main Event Time:
Rungvisai in the yellow and red trunks and Estrada in the Silver and black trunks.
Round 1. Both fighters coming out very strong. Wow this is why we watch. Estrada looking very good, but Rungvisai is throwing some very hard deceptive punches that is keeping Estrada a little bit at bay.
Round 2. Rungvisai looking very strong and fresh. He is so relaxed in there, like a top P4P boxer. Rungvisai a little slow. Estrada boxing his best, but it just seems that Rungvisai is built to take punches from bigger men.
Round 3. Good round for Estrada, if Estrada keeps boxing on the outside and doesn’t get in Rungvisai wheel house, he can win. Rungvisai needs the fight inside so he can land his power.
Round 4. Rungvisai body looks so much like Manny Pacquiao’s. If he had PAC’s speed he would be unreal. Estrada boxing beautifully now, moving in and out and catching Rungvisai with a beautiful uppercut at the end of the round. If Estrada continues to box he will win.
Round 5. Estrada has the fight in Cruise control right now, boxing well and staying out of Rungvisai’s way. Rungvisai lands a good right at the end of the round.
Round 6. As predicted by Boxing Action Magazine last week, it looks to be Estrada’s time. He is showing to be the younger, fresher more comfortable fighter. It doesn’t hurt either that Estrada is quicker and the more natural boxer as well.
Round 7. Estrada with a great game plan, as he is purposely started avoiding Rungvisai in the six round and he’s making it clear that he will fight smart. Estrada knows that if he boxes he has this victory in the bag. It will be interesting to see how aggressive Rungvisai will be.
Round 8. Estrada continues to do his best version of Floyd Mayweather Jr. -Rungvisai is built for war, nobody in the division is built like him. Rungvisai is like a tank, he needs his opponents to stand and fight, the more they move the more issues he has. Rungvisai is a rich-mans version of Brandon Rios.
Round 9. Last week, I talked about Rungvisai hitting a wall; having already hit his peak, the level of training he puts himself through is hard, almost like he had a fight before the fight. We call it overtraining. Add that with a fresh at his peak Estrada and the result is what we are watching.
Round 10. Estrada giving Rungvisai a Punchers Chance as he is doing some trading in the middle of the ring. Rungvisai is far from finished.
Round 11. Estrada goes down from a low blow. The fight continues in an exciting round . Estrada is fighting but not brawling. He is still moving in and out and being start.
Round 12. Actioned packed 12th round. Estrada lands some heavy heavy shots in the closing of the fight hurting Rungvisai. What a performance by Estrada.
Winner and New 115 pound Champion Juan Francisco Estrada
Daniel Roman vs TJ Doheny:
WBA and IBF World Super-Bantamweight titles on the line:
Round 1. Good feel out round for both fighters. Roman coming forward and Doheny doing a lot of moving. After just watching an action packed war with Soto and Vargas, the crowd is a little restlessness.
Round 2. Most of the round was a defensive chess match and then out of nowhere Doheny gets caught with a left hook that sends him to the canvas. Roman has been fighting with confidence from the start of the first round bell.
Round 3. Roman boxing great. Roman reminds me a lot of Dmitry Bivol. Roman is controlling the pace and distance of the fight. His defense and use of his height are terrific and Roman really throws punches with deceptive power.
Round 4. Another good round for Roman, Roman did get caught with some good shots from the ready Doheny.
Round 5. Donheny’s face really getting blistered now, Fight is starting to look like the Isaac Dogboe vs Emmanuel Navarrete Fight. Dogboe took tremendous punishment in that fight and unless Donheny turns things around, it looks like he will have a similar fate.
Round 6. Even round, both fighters had their moments.
Round 7. Wow. Tremendous round as Donheny comes on strong in an all out action packed round. Donheny dominates the round – can you say round of the year!
Round 8. Another terrible round as Roman lands a good left hook to close the round. Very even round. Donheny is definitely back in the fight.
Round 9. Another action packed round as Roman turn the tide back in his favor by landing huge shots throughout the round and finishing the round with a monster body shot. TJ Doheny is one tough man!
Round 10. Doheny is a warrior and still game, but this is getting brutal. Doheny is taking career changing punishment now and I hope the referee is watching closely.
Round 11. Donheny down from a body shot, spitting blood. Come-on stop the fight. Roman keeps dishing out punishment and with 25 seconds left in the round, Roman lands a huge right hand.
Donheny’s trainer should be ashamed of himself for not stopping the fight and letting his fighter go out there for the final round.
Round 12. Easy paced round to a brutal fight.
Roman wins a Majority Decision
What a tremendous fight, congratulations to both fighters for putting on a show!! Roman and Doheny just followed up a war with another war!
Daniel Roman does his best Impression of Dmitry Bivol and Beats TJ Doheny
Jessie Vargas vs Humberto Soto:
Both come in prepared at 150.4lbs:
Soto dressed in beautiful black and gold gets ready to battle in his 22nd year as a professional. Vargas wearing white and gold, only 29 years old still has many years to go in his already great career.
Round 1. Wow, Soto comes out ready to brawl. Soto is in for a tall order against the young powerful Vargas. Soto landing his left well and a big combination to close the round- Wow.
Round 2. Early head butt opens cut on both guys. Vargas getting the worst of it with a deep cut on his left eye. Another exciting round as Soto is fighting each minute like it’s his last.
Round 3. Why are the Broadcasters talking about who Jessie Vargas’s next opponent would be when we are witnessing a classic off to legends in the ring right now? Why are these guys putting the cart before the horse?
Excellent round for both fighters, Vargas doing some good body work against the soft body of Soto.
Round 4. Wow, what a round. Soto taking Vargas’s Punches, walking thru them to land his own. What a warrior. I still like the younger Vargas in this fight, but Soto is taking Vargas to school right now.
Round 5. Better round for Vargas, these two are really going at it. Soto is putting on a heck of a performance.
Round 6. Vargas hurts Soto with a body shot that went unnoticed. Ten seconds later, Vargas lands a hard right to the already paralyzed Soto that sends Soto to the canvas. Soto beats the count but is in trouble. Soto taking lots of punishment and his older softer body can’t take it anymore as the Ref stops the fight.
Great Great Fight. Congratulations to Vargas on the Win and Congratulations to Soto on a tremendous 22 year career.
Other Action from The Forum in Inglewood, Los Angeles:
Anthony Sims Jr. vs Vaughn Alexander:
These two fighters battle at in the super middleweight division and can’t wait to fight.
Sims Jr. coming out in white trunks with a red and blue stripe on the side along with matching tassels on his ring shoes. Alexander wearing black trunks with red trim.
After the first three rounds, Sims looks to have talent, but his record and ego is a little overblown. He is trying to acting like Roy Jones Jr., but he is nowhere near that level. Interesting to see the progression of this fight as the smaller Alexander is very tough.
Rounds 4 & 5. I like the aggression from Alexander, he didn’t just come for a paycheck. I don’t like the way Sims is reacting to the tough challenger.
Round 6. Hit going to layout me but Vaughn Alexander reminds me a bit of a young Evander Holyfield. Alexander won the round.
Rounds 7-10. Not the type of high level boxing I’d like to see, but I’ll tell you Alexander gave it everything he could.
You get the feeling from the one sided score cards so far here this evening that the judges are a bit under pressure to make sure that the favorite wins.
Anthony The Magician Sims Junior improves his undefeated record to 19-0.
Winner by UD Anthony Sims Jr.
Diego Pacheco vs. Guillermo Maldonado:
Pacheco coming in two pounds over the middleweight limit of 160 pounds. Pacheco wearing beautiful blue with silver trunks with the American flag on one side and the Mexican flag on the opposite side. Maldonado coming in with black trunks with white trim.
18 year old Pacheco improves to 3-0 with a quick dominate performance, he was landing big shots from the opening round and Maldonado went down hard from a good accumulation of shots. Maldonado is Bady Hurt and doesn’t know where he is.
Winner 1st Round KO Diego Pacheco
Shakhram Giyasov vs Emmanuel Taylor:
Excellent opening bout to an action packed card as these two fighters battled all 10 rounds in the 140 pound division. Both fighters coming out with matching black and gold trunks. Very difficult fight to score, for example, in the 8th round Taylor dominated the first half of the round landing big heavy shots and in the second half, Taylor stopping punching and Giyasov probably stole the round. The fight was close but the judges scored it going away for the Uzbekistan Olympic Gold Medalist and favorite, the Wonder Boy -Shakhram Giyasov.
Winner by UD Shakhram Giyasov
