A special and memorable ceremony this Sunday, as a route in Detroit will be named “Emanuel Steward Street,” honoring the many- Manny achievements and legacy of All TIME GREAT boxing trainer Emanuel Steward.
Manny was born in West Virginia. At the age 12 he moved to Detroit with his Mother, and the “Motor City” would be the location of his everlasting fame. Manny is recognized as one of the most successful trainers in the history of Boxing. Following his patient, brilliant and inspirational lead, more than 40 professional fighters become world champions. It reads as the Who`s Who of Boxing!
Pupils of the legendary “Kronk Gym” remember him with love, respect and admiration because not only did he care for them in their corner in the ring, but also extended his attention plus help to their nutrition, personal development and daily life. Emanuel became for many fighters a lifelong friend and for still more a father figure.
Manny`s star roll call of greatness includes: Thomas Hearns, Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield and Wladimir Klitschko.
Although he passed away in 2012, Manny`s legacy will eternally live and shine brightly in the memory and gratitude of the boxers he developed to greatness.
The World Boxing Council joins this celebration of this TRULY GREAT MAN with pride and honor, always remembering with great affection, respect and admiration, the ONE AND ONLY Emanuel Steward.
