Twenty year old sensation Devin Haney (22-0, 14 KOs) scored a punctuating, devastating one-punch knockout of Antonio Moran (24-4, 17 KOs) in the seventh round at the MGM National Harbor, Oxon Hill, emphatically defending his WBC International Lightweight title.
Haney started off in the first with some extremely hard, accurate, sinking body punches, which slowed Moran. Moran was trying to land combinations in the second, but he was hitting a lot of thin air and getting stingingly plus precisely countered by Haney.
In the third, Haney went back to targeting the body, easily outworking his brave opponent, who was bracing himself, yet soaking up a lot of punishment. During the fifth, Haney was credited with a knockdown. Moran’s nose was bleeding and he was getting tagged almost at will.
The inevitable end came In the seventh round, when Haney landed a flush overhand right, while Moran was trapped against the ropes, Moran went down and crumpled to his first KO loss. The Referee immediately stopped the fight.
