It’s official Deontay Wilder vs. Dominic Breazeale on May 18 at Baclays Center, Brooklyn NY.
As expected Deontay Wilder turns down huge $100 million 3-fight deal and stays with the PBC / Showtime group.
Breazeale’s (20-1) only loss game at the hands of champion Anthony Joshua 3 years ago via TKO in the 7th round. Breazeale is not very active as he has been averaging a fight about once every 9 or 10 months. The Heavyweight division is so weak right now that a fighter like Breazeale like be fairly inactive and still be ranked high with the boxing organizations.
Fans were hopeful of the Big Three (Wilder, Fury & Joshua) fighting each other, but it seems with each passing day, the prospects of having one true undisputed heavyweight champion is getting more unrealistic to accomplish.
Things are more complicated then ever with the Big Three as all three belong to the Big Three Competing Networks (Fury/ESPN, Joshua/DAZN & Wilder/Showtime) and between the Fighters / networks is seems no one is will to give an inch – all three have very deep pockets and think they are maybe to special. Long lost are the days when HBO & Showtime worked together to make Mayweather/Pacquiao happen.
Multiple books can be written about what happened / who offered what / and the complexities of getting the big guys in the ring.
