The highly successful and progressively popular World Boxing Super Series Tournament crowned Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk and British Callum Smith last year as the best in the world in their division, and this is exactly the path that all the participants of the second edition of this tournament fully intend to follow.
This Saturday, April 27, at the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana, two high-explosive fights will ignite. In the super lightweight division, undefeated American knockout artist and WBC Diamond champion Regis Prograis (23-0, 19 Ko’s), fights Belarusian Kiryl Relikh (23-2, 19 Ko’s) in a bout that is expected to be a veritable slugfest.
In the second semi-final fight, vastly experienced Nonito ‘Filipino Flash’ Donaire (39-5, 25Ko’s), also a WBC Diamond champion, takes on the dangerous African Zolani Tete (28-3, 21 Ko’s). Nonito in the Quarterfinals defated the favorite to win the tournament, Ryan Burnett. For his part lightning strikes twice Tete arrives with the accolade of having achieved the fastest KO in a world championship fight, finishing it all in just 11 seconds.
