Two undefeated prominent welterweights go at it tonight live at 10:30 PM Eastern time on ESPN. Crawford is a 25-1 favorite to be Benavidez as Crawford is one of the top P4p boxers in the world with knockout power and though Benavidez is undefeated, very few have heard of him and he doesn’t seem to have devastating ( like Crawford) punching power.
I am very disappointed in Crawford that he threw a punch at Benavidez during the weight-in. I understand the mentality that words are one thing but if you touch me I will answer back, I understand that mentality. But for him to throw a punch instead of push back is weak to me. If he had landed that right hook flush on Benavidez’s head, of course the fight would’ve been totally different today and maybe not even worth watching.
Terence Crawford has talked a lot this week about Benavidez not deserving the title shot and the opportunity to fight him.
Five years ago, Nonito Donaire faced Guillermo Rigondeaux for the super bantamweight championship on HBO. Donaire talked a lot, earlier that week back in 2013 of how Rigondeaux didn’t deserve the opportunity and has no credentials to be fighting him. Guillermo Rigondeaux ended up completely dominating the fight and basically pitching a 12 round shut out.
I am looking forward to a great fight tonight, and beating Terence Crawford is a tall order for anyone, I will be rooting for the underdog tonight no matter how long of a longshot, that’s the fun in boxing.
