World Boxing Council flyweight champion Charlie Edwards, will defend his crown on Saturday, August 31 against Mexican Julio César “Rey” Martínez (14-1-1, 11 Ko’s) on home turf at the O2 Arena in London.
Edwards (15-1-0, 6 Ko’s), comes from defeating Spaniard Ángel Moreno by a wide unanimous decision, in the first defense of his world title.
For his part Martinez comes from winning a final elimination by stopping Welshman Andrew Selby.
Edwards is in tip top condition to face the dangerous hard hitting Mexican fighter and he decisively demonstrated this in an open media training session.
“I am very motivated to make the next defense of my title. I will not let my WBC belt go. I’m absolutely sure I’ll win on August 31.”
