Andy Ruiz Jr. and Delfine Persoon are June 2019 Boxing Action Magazine Boxers of the Month.
Andy Ruiz Jr. shocked the 20,000 fans at Madison Square Garden and the boxing world when he knocked Anthony Joshua down four times and won the Heavyweight Champion Titles by TKO in the Seventh round. After being knocked down in the 3rd round for the first time in his career, little known Andy Ruiz Jr. lifted himself of the canvas and knocked Anthony Joshua down twice in what is now known as one of the most exciting boxing rounds in Heavyweight history.
Ruiz beating Joshua is know as the biggest upset since Buster Douglas beat Iron Mike Tyson in Japan. Less then 48 hours of Ruiz winning the Heavyweight Champion, social media showed its true power and reach around the world. Literally every student attached to social media, heard Andy Ruiz’s Name – Amazing.
The Ruiz Upset will probably will the Sports story of the year. That’s truly staying a lot.
Maybe the best, most refreshing thing about the monumental Upset is that Andy Ruiz Jr. and Anthony Joshua couldn’t have been a better class act before or after the fight. This is a very special time to be a boxing fan.
Female Boxer of the Month: Delfine Persoon
Delfine Persoon Lost a very very very close 10 round majority decision to top P4P boxer lightning fast Katie Taylor.
Most fans and media thought that Persoon landed the heavier shots throughout the fight. The fight was a story of two tails, The first half of the fight most saw Taylor ahead on points, and the second half of the fight Persoon dominated the tired Taylor and put her stamp on the sport that she is the best woman’s boxer on the planet at the 130 and 135 pound divisions.
Persoon threw a lot of wide hooks and awkward punches throughout the fight. She also had very quick Manny Pacquiao type short straight punches which paralyzed Katie Taylor speed for much of the fight. Taylor had no answer and made no adjustments for the aggression and tiger instinct that Persoon bought to Madison Square Garden that night of June 1st 2019. In an evening of classic multi fight of the year bouts. Persoon vs Taylor might have stole the show and it might be the greatest women’s boxing match of all time.
Persoon the little known champion captured the hearts and minds of the boxing universe in one single night almost dethroning the top P4P female boxer and itching herself in boxing’s lure and legend forever.
Congratulations Andy Ruiz Jr. and Delfine Persoon for a great June! Good Luck as you continue an exciting 2019.
