They are determined to repeat and further heat the drama of their exciting clash of 2017, won by Berchelt, in a slugfest.
After training for the media on Wednesday at the Southwest Boxing Gym, this was what the fighters said at the end of open media training:
Miguel Berchelt
“Whenever two Mexicans face each other in the ring, fireworks are guaranteed, Tucson fans and those watching on ESPN can expect a great show, Vargas and I had a great fight in 2017, and our rematch in 2019 It will not be different, as we are proud Mexican warriors.
“They will see the same ‘Alacrán’ from the first fight with Vargas, I will enter the ring with a lot of desire to win and defend my title. I will defend this belt with everything I have, This belt belongs to me!
“The strategy is the same, which is going out to solve the problem that Vargas represents, I will leave everything in the ring, I will give my whole heart during this battle, every time Alacran fights, it is a guarantee that the fans will see a knockout.”
Francisco Vargas
“I’ve been very patient, I’ve been waiting for this fight for two years and now it’s finally here, it’s going to be a war, I did a few different things in preparation for this fight, I worked on different strategies, but we’ll see how the fight will go. You know, when two Mexicans get into the ring, they leave everything inside that ring, I’ll fight with my heart, as my goal is to conquer the WBC world title once again.”
