It’s official, Johnathon Banks will be Gennady Golovkin’s new trainer. Banks fought as a cruiserweight and heavyweight and was trained by the great Emanuel Steward.
Banks has a good stable of boxers he trainers. The most notable boxer Banks has trained is former heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko.
It will be hard to tell and see Golovkin’s possible footwork improvement under Banks when GGG fights little known contender Steve Rolls (19-0, 10 KOs), of Toronto, next month.
Golovkin might be trying to find the fountain of youth this late in his career changing trainers. It’s important for GGG to understand that father time is undefeated.
Johnathon Banks Said that he wants to see GGG be more busy in the ring. Banks feels that if GGG throws more punches, he can’t be beat in the middleweight division.
Banks is also hoping for GGG to make easy work of Steve Rolls on June 8th, and make a quick turn around for a possible showdown with Canelo Alvarez in a big September Showdown.
