Undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, was forced to postpone his heavyweight debut against Carlos Takam, after suffering a bicep injury.
Usyk was scheduled to fight Takam, in Maryland, on May 25. However, Eddie Hearn revealed on social media that Usyk will have to wait for the injury to heal.
According to Hearn, the return of Usyk could take place in August. He expects the boxer to resume training in five weeks.
“He had a bicep injury. He is not having surgey. I think he will return to the ring in August, it will be five weeks until he can start training again,”
Usyk rocketed up the cruiserweight division when he defeated Murat Gassiev in Moscow in July last year. Then he defended his titles against Tony Bellew in Manchester in November.
