Angel Acosta vs. Elwin Soto (Jr. Flyweight Championship)
Terrific first round to this championship fight. Both boxers doing some good work, Mexico’s Soto is finding a home for his big right hand.
Soto lands a big right hook to open up the second round that staggers Acosta, Soto also working the body well. Acosta hanging tough landing some great combinations on Soto. Acosta doing good work, but he’s leaving himself to susceptible to the right hand.
Acosta hits the deck with the big left right combination from Soto. Soto going in for the kill and Acosta is holding on, Acosta falls down to the canvas and the referee calls it a push, as Acosta gets some much needed time to get his balance back as his legs are still not there. Acosta coming back now with some terrific body shots and now he lands a big left hook upstairs on Soto. These flyweights are really letting the leather fly and giving the fans more than their moneys worth and an amazing third round. Both guys are fighting so well they are literally one big punch away from ending the fight.
Round four starts and again Acosta finds himself hurt by a big right hand from Soto. Now Acosta comes back strong and is landing very well on a very tough Soto.
After six rounds in the books, this has to be the fight of the year so far, tremendous back-and-forth action. Two tip top pound for pound boxer going at it toe-to-toe.
Round 7. Wow the best of the round so far as both the guys staggered each other and let their hands go like it was the final round of the fight. The pace that they are setting throwing nonstop power shots is spectacular.
The Tough Soto Against the Determined Acosta.
These two guys going after each other, this is why we love boxing, why we follow boxing, these are the fights that lift up all the fans and make new ones.
Round 10. Acosta continues to unload beautiful combinations, no matter the situation, no matter how hurt he is, he continues to box like he’s fresh and in around one. Soto slowing down a bit and might be setting Acosta up for another major right hook.
Soto’s corner screening at him to get busier as they feel Acosta is stealing the rounds right now.
Unbelievable, just as Acosta was coasting through the fight, Soto lands a huge / quick short blinding left that hurts Acosta so bad that the referee stops the fight. Wow What A Fight!!!
New Champion- Congratulations Elwin Soto
