ANTHONY JOSHUA is weighing up another heavyweight offer from Hollywood – for a film about his glittering career.
Watford’s WBO, WBA and IBF king has been approached by movie powerhouse Universal about getting his bid to become the undisputed king of boxing on film.
London’s 2012 Olympic golden boy is considering the offer, with boxing fans desperate for a look behind the scenes as he aims to secure a career-defining fight with WBC boss Deontay Wilder.
Universal have just released the brilliant biopic ‘I am Duran’ about the sensational career of Panama legend Roberto Duran.
And they want to stay on the boxing bandwagon by landing a deal with Joshua, who was the star of an excellent feature film in the build-up to his magnificent 2017 win over Wladimir Klitschko.
AJ is in celeb-centre New York for his USA debut on Saturday night against Andy Ruiz Jr and he admits he would have felt less pressure as a star of the silver screen.
Joshua, 29, said: “I’ve got to prove myself in America because I don’t think they will come out and accept you easily. If I wanted to be a TV star, it would be easier.
REAL DEAL
“When it comes to boxing, if you want to be respected, then you’ve got be the real deal.
“They’ve had the best champions flying their flag, so I’ve got to stamp my name in the American books.”
Ruiz, 29, has been full of praise for Joshua, since the California ace accepted around £3million to step in for disgraced drug cheat Jarrell Miller.
But the reformed north London badboy did notice a slip of the tongue when his chubby stand-in opponent called him “robotic”.
AJ laughed: “I heard he called me that, I’m going to smack him up now!
“It’s like when I boxed Alexander Povetkin, when he hit me I thought ‘I’m going to f*** you up now!’
“Because he didn’t speak English, I respected him because he didn’t trash talk too much.
“If Ruiz wants to go down that route of talking s***, I’m gonna want to break his jaw and hurt him really bad.
“But if he wants a good boxing match and he gets hit with a shot he didn’t see and we shake hands, then it’s best not to say anything.”
