EDDIE HEARN has confirmed possible dates for the rematch between Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr, with the bout set to take place in New York or Cardiff.
AJ will make the final decision on when and where exactly he will attempt to win his WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO belts back “within the next 48 hours”.
Hearn has revealed that the famous Madison Square Garden in New York and the 74,500-seater Principality Stadium in Cardiff are being considered for the highly-anticipated encounter.
If Joshua, 29, decides to take on Ruiz at MSG again, the bout will take place on November 29 or December 7.
And should AJ choose the Welsh capital to stage his blockbuster fight, the two fighters will square off on December 14.
Hearn has been reviewing possible venues ever since triggering the rematch clausedays after Ruiz, 29, shockingly beat Joshua in New York on June 1.
And the promoter – who has admitted he will be “s****ing himself” during AJ’s second fight against the Mexican – said the final decision is to be made soon.
Hearn told Chris Mannix of SI Boxing: “I think it’s between the UK and MSG.
“If he [Joshua] beats Andy Ruiz away Madison Square Garden, he becomes an over night sensation.
“I spoke to him [Joshua] and said ‘you’re going to have a very difficult decision to make in the next 48 hours’.
“‘Because I’m going to lay it all on a bit of paper for you, and I’m going to say what do you want to do’.
“As always, Anthony will decide.”
‘I KNOW HIS FLAWS’
Meanwhile, Ruiz has vowed to beat Joshua again, claiming the Brit is “not very good at boxing”.
He said: “The rematch is going to be the same. I am going to be more prepared and more ready.
People thought I wasn’t going to do anything, I was too big, too overweight.
“I don’t want to say all the things I am going to change.
“There is going to be a lot of changing, I am going to come at a better weight this time. It’s going to be a hell of a fight.”
