Deontay Wilder thinks he knows why Tyson Fury is said to have hinted at retirement in a recent interview.

After hearing Fury’s latest remarks, in which he declared he would be ‘gone’ after his next three bouts, Wilder has declared that this is because he knows their rematch will be the end of him.

“He said he got three more fights and then he out of here,” Wilder told media on an international call.

“We all know why he’s gonna be out of here, because s**t, one of those fights leads up to me. And I’m gonna finish it. I’m gonna finish the job.

“Fury know I gave him a concussion. When you get a man that don’t understand how he got on the ground, nor how he got up, his brain has been shooked.

“He don’t want that fight no more. He don’t wanna get in there no more. This is the common sense of a fighter.”

Earlier this year, Wilder was ordered to rematch Fury after their December title fight was controversially scored a draw.

However, Fury opted out of the second bout for the time being and is now scheduled to face Tom Schwarz on June 15, leaving Wilder to face mandatory challenger Dominic Breazeale on May 18 instead.

“I hurt Tyson Fury very badly,” Wilder continued, “I gave him a concussion. Like I said, this man had memory loss, and that’s not healthy.

“That’s not healthy for you. And as a man, as a man with a family, hey, if you need a warm-up or tune-up to make sure your marbles are back in place, go do that.

“Take as many warm-ups as you need. We understand.”
