Eddie Hearns Matchroom Boxing it’s taking the United States boxing market by storm. Hearn has double down on featuring great boxing events in the United States. After spending a few days this past week with him, I see that he is laser focused on making Matchroom Boxing and the DAZN App a big success. He is working on the promotions as hard as a world boxing champion works in the gym. So Bob Arum, Al Haymon and Oscar Dela Hoya, move over because there’s a new dog looking to run the yard.
Over the last two weeks, Hearn’s time in New York has been very fruitful. He has set-up multiple boxing events and has signed some terrific Young talent and some very good established boxers. He’s currently in talks with GGG any just gave the Charlo brothers a very good offer to sign with Matchroom. He’s trying his best to get everybody on board and even talking to some of the older boxes who might have only one or two fights left in them. His boxers really like him and are spreading the word about him (as they say word-of-mouth is the best advertising), he is eager to give even the oldest boxers in the Twilight of there careers opportunities to let them go out on their horse- give them one last hurrah. Mike Tyson famously said that boxers should have each other‘s back, “ if my friend (fellow boxer) needed money, I would fight him so he can make money”. Boxing is about many things, but it is also about love and respect.
Boxing can be a very cruel to the athletes. Putting older boxers on the card, highlighting them is sometimes all they want – one more chance to prove there skills, there toughness and also earn some money (giving a little something back to the athletes who put the sport on there back). This is something promoters should be doing tomorrow. The above mentioned takes a lot of energy and a lot of time but Hearn is proving very capable to do whatever it takes to get the ball rolling.
