Matchroom Boxing crashed the shores of the Northeast the Thanksgiving Holiday week. Treating the citizens of Manchester New Hampshire on Friday November nineteenth at the Southern New Hampshire University Arena with WBO Middleweight king Demetrius Andrade title defense against Jason Quigley.
Successfully defending his World Boxing Organization World Middleweight Championship for the fifth time Demetrius Andrade, Providence Rhode Island, gave Jason Quigley, Ballybofey, Ireland, a shellacking. It was never a fight as Andrade,160 lbs, was able to set up his power shots and hurt Quigley, 159.8 lbs, almost immediately. Andrade got through with a right hand to Quigley’s chin in round one and a follow up barrage of punches put the Irishman down. Quigley beat the count and was able to survive until the bell rang. It appeared as if Quigley was not fully recovered when the bell chimed for round two. Moving forward Andrade did a nifty feint to the body that set up a booming right to his foe’s head. Upon impact Quigley crashed to the canvas. Believing the night was over Andrade celebrated by standing on the ring ropes with his arms raised. A beaten Quigley did not quit and rose to his feet only to get cornered ,battered and dropped until referee Arthur Mercante Jr waved it off at 2;24 of round two. Quigley record falls to 19-2 14 KO’s
A 2008 US Olympian, Andrade has remained undefeated as a professional for thirteen years in thirty one fights with nineteen knockouts. Continuing his quest of squaring off with the top talent in the division and unifying the Middleweight alphabets, Andrade calls out the usual suspects Canelo, Jermall, Charlo and Triple G. It may be difficult to get any of them in the ring. Earlier in the year when Andrade call out Canelo at one of the Mexicans press conferences , Alvarez responded by telling him “You fight nobody. Go beat someone” adding “You’re a boring fighter”. Triple G seems focused on making himself vs Canelo a trilogy. Being part of the PBC boxing group Charlo matchup seems unlikely since it seems Al Haymon does not want to engage in business with Eddie Hearn. Andrade said “Who’s next? What’s next? Munguia should be fighting me”. A bout with the former WBO Super Middleweight Champion could take place since both boxers fight on DAZN. These two fighters locking horns is a donnybrook all boxing fans would desire to watch.
Manchester, New Hampshire is located on the banks of the Lovell River. A sleepy town whose pubs close their doors at one am. None of that slowed down the thousand or so Irish fans who came into the mini city from living it up. These visitors comprised about half of the over two thousand derrieres that filled the seats
