Boxing is by far the biggest sport in the world that basically has absolutely no structure. No major annual tournament, no structured season emanating in some type of championship. Let’s dive into a few good possibilities for the sport in 2020.
Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder:
This is probably the biggest boxing match that could be made at the moment. Joshua just came off a big victory regaining his belts by beating a very heavy out of shape – Fat Andy Ruiz Junior. Andy Ruiz has quite a chin and a powerful punch and will give anybody on this planet fits if he simply dedicate himself to getting in shape for six months.
Deontay Wilder has undeniably been on a major Knockout streak. He right hand is being talked about to be comparable with the 2018 bazooka the United States military designed and created.
It will be interesting to see if Wilder can land that bazooka of a right hand on Tyson Fury this coming up February and set finally set up the Mega-Match with Joshua.
Matchroom is going to have to give Wilder 50/ 50 or don’t waste our time talking about the fight.
Terence Crawford vs A PBC Welter:
There is no doubt that Crawford is a worldly Boxing talent. ESPN has blown him up to make him look like the next Sugar Ray Leonard. The lack of competition has some looking at him as a B level Welterweight.
Let’s see if Top Rank does a little sacrificing in 2020 and matches Crawford up with the top welters on the planet such as Danny Garcia or Shawn Porter.
If Crawford wants to make a believer out of the reporters not on the payroll he will have to step up.
Vasyl Lomachenko vs Gervonta Davis:
Lomachenko is a fun boxer to watch, he has taken the Sweet Science to a level all his own. Some of his competition lately has made him appear human. Let’s see what he does if he has to face a well tailored Baltimorean Tank since he has made it clear he’s not fighting at 140.
It’s funny that he’s not willing to fight anyone 5 pounds bigger, but he is willing to fight Inoue who is 20 pounds smaller.
Tank Davis has not only impress me inside the ring, but his actions in 2019 has secured him a healthy Career for the future. He is growing as a man and appreciating his hometown of Baltimore. In exchange Baltimore is showing him a lot of love. He is also starting to distance himself from troublemakers and thugs such as Adrian Bronner.
Canelo Alvarez vs A Prime Fighter:
The number one Boxing attraction on the planet legend is growing rapidly with every fight. For the few nonbelievers left, he is turning them into believers at a fast clip.
Some say that he is fighting guys that are too old – like 37-38 years old. And when fought Daniel Jacobs- unfortunately Jacobs was weight drained.
It’s interesting because when he fought Jacobs, Canelo wanted to make sure that Jacobs was not overweight by 1 pound, Canelo talk to the sanctioning bodies and wanted the fight at exactly 160 pounds. But then in the next fight he moved up to 175 pounds.
It would be nice to see Canelo Alvarez fight someone in their prime and in there true weight class. Alverez seems to have a way of manipulating weight to get a huge advantage on fighters.
Nonetheless Canelo is very much fun to watch!
ARTUR BETERBIEV vs Dmitry Bivol:
These two Russian fighters would be a field day to watch in the ring. Both warriors are known to fight anyone available if the money is right and both Warriors are young, hungry undefeated champions. Bivol’s boxing skills against Beterbiev come forward aggression – This would be a great fight.
