2019 is Here, Are you Ready?
2018 was a most impressive and great boxing year, and 2019 promises much more of the same. As I always say, “this is a great time to be a boxing fan”, For those of us who love the sweet science there are so many great matchup’s staged almost on a weekly basis.
So we celebrated New Year’s and raised our champagne glasses, hugged the ones we love and feel so blessed for the wonderful things we have. Now we look forward to Boxing 2019.
With so many boxing gyms opening around the world and so much up and coming talent, 2019 will be great even if the big 3 Heavyweights don’t fight each other (which they will) and even if Pacquiao/Mayweather II doesn’t happen (which it will).
January 13 @ Microsoft Theater, LA
Jose Uzcategui Vs Caleb Plant
This fight will set the stage for an Amazing Year.
January 18, Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing returns to MSG for a fun evening of Boxing.
January 19, The Big One
Legendary Boxer Manny Pacquiao vs. Adrian Broner. Pacquiao makes his return to the Sin City, look for him to Display his utter worldly skills against a very very game AB.
January 26, Keith Thurman finally returns and fights contender Josesito Lopez at the Barclays Center, Brooklyn. If Thurman returns 100% this will be a no contest, Lopez always to his credit shows up ready to fight (Lopez is a Warrior). Also in the same night from Texas a pair of undefeated super welterweights go to battle: Jamie Munguia vs. Takeshi Inoue.
February 2nd from Texas, Eleider Alvarez vs Sergey Kovalev. This light heavyweight championship fight is guaranteed not only to provide fireworks but be a fight of the year. Owww it’s going Down.
February 9th at the Stubhub Center Los Angeles, we will watch Gervonta Davis’s fists move instead of his lips when he takes on Abner Mares who is moving up in weight for this challenge.
February 10th Jose Ramirez is back in action to defend the Light Welterweight Title against Jose Zepeda by way of California and live on Showtime. Jose Ramirez is one of those boxers you circle the calendar for and clear you day to watch ( also Maurice Hooker is in the same weight class and thinking about those two fighting sends chills through my body)(Hooker is also rumored to be fight in February on Long Island)
As we talk boxing and enjoy the fights and listen to the trash talk between boxers, trainers and promoters in 2019, we hope and pray for the sport we live to keep our athletes, our fellow brothers and sisters safe and healthy.
